Derived from the Greek word HIPPO ( horse ) Hippotherapy is a highly effective modality that began in Germany some 40 years ago. Unlike Therapeutic Horseriding that we see on television all the time, Hippotherapy is the art of using a Horse's movement to simulate desired situations for Sensory Processing, Gait Training, Muscle Strengthening. Hippotherapy requires the use of fit and able horses that can bend well and change direction swiftly while moving very slowly.

Speech Language Pathologists use the movement of the horse to assist in speech production.
